For years, the Friends have wanted to get holiday lights on the Garden on the Bridge. Carole Williamson spearheaded a project to do just that — with a twist. These aren’t your traditional holiday lights. Modeled on a spectacular display in Sandwich, MA, these lights will be created out of clear plastic water bottles, cut to resemble flower petals.
The bottles were collected, cut into different flower shapes, attached to strings of colored lights, and then mounted on the Threadway and Plaza facing Main Street. It became a stunning display. Here are examples from Sandwich.
We would love to have members of the community participate in this project, from kids to seniors. In the meantime, please save your clean water bottles and recruit your neighbors to collect them, too. It takes hundreds.
